Travis: I make art for myself much like I cook an omelette, throwing in whatever ingredients I think might be tasty to my eyes (and soul) at the moment. Often, the work comes in the subsequent revisions, paring the thing down towards perfection. When I am doing a work for hire, I truly enjoy the challenge of creating personalized custom art, and often get off on it as much as I do my own work. I believe there is plenty of room for creativity, originality and expression in a commissioned work of art, and sometimes a commission can be a catalyst. In both, I strive for a sublime synthesis of concept and execution. Above all, I try to use the materials to 'do right' by my subject, whatever/whoever it may be.
